Students in the Museum and Art Gallery society (MAGS) at the University of Leicester came together to create a museum centered magazine, to share knowledge about the sector and create a student-led community. We are always open to post submission and have a page showing all the guidelines for pitching ideas.
Meet the Team!
President
I believe museums are places to connect: through tangible and intangible things, museums connect people from different backgrounds within or outside a community and share knowledge, memories, or another way of seeing the world.
Just as museums, I hope MAGS and MAGS mag will become such a hub for students and people across the world, who are interested in and willing to discuss museums, galleries, and heritage.
Vice President
I joined museums because I enjoyed learning history and want it to be more accessible to more people. My favorite museum is the Capitoline Museum in Rome. The Roman stuff there is awesome and the balcony that overlooks the forum and the coliseum is truly breathtaking.
Secretary of MAGS Mag
I am interested in History and cultural heritage, especially those in China and Hong Kong. If you ask me which museum is my favourite, I would say the Hanyangling Museum in Xi’an. That is the first museum that attracts me to start thinking about how the museum sector displays and narrates the heritage and its historical story in such an impressive way. I believe that there are more things to discover and tell in the long human history.
Magazine Chief
I like strolling around museums and spending time looking at the art/object. It’s a way for me to learn more about the world. It’s really hard to pick a favourite museum. I would say it’s the British Museum! (Though some of the artefacts have been controversial)
Treasurer
Museums for me is a space bursting with inspirations, and everyone brings home different thoughts from the same museum! For museums that I like, I am greedy: Arts shares my feelings; History reminds me of good values; Science makes me think and have fun! It is the same thing as reading a book, listening to a song, watching a movie etc.
Well-being & Inclusion Ambassador
I am looking forward to ensuring the wellbeing and equality of all the committee members for both the society and the magazine committee in activities.
My duty is to empower committee members and offer them a platform to make their voices heard by conducting feedback surveys for events and meetings.
I'd like to do the same for other students and ensure that your voice reaches the appropriate person.

I love finding the history behind art/objects, and I enjoy the stories happening between art and people. Overall, I’m just a curious girl wandering in this beautiful art/museum world.

Living museums are what sparked my love for history and museums so they will always have a special place in my heart. They invite visitors to immerse themselves in a time and place and hold so much potential to render the intangible tangible and personal.
I hope MAGS mag will be a place for students to share ideas and passion for museums and galleries!

I love museums and all things connect with art and culture. In my free time, I enjoy books and movies. My favourite museum is Nara National Museum which contains many Buddhist statues that I’m interested in.

I see museums as bridges that connect the past and the present, people, and ideas. They make you think, question and enjoy. I hope to be able to share my love for these powerful institutions through MAGS!
